Breaking the stereotype of stories that showcase mainly male bonding, new Bengali film Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends, set for release later this month, focuses on female bonding, with the director calling it biographical. Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends Me and My Girlfriends is about three women, professionally very different from each other, having the time of their lives on a trip during which they share their experiences. It is an extension of my world, and very biographical," Mainak Bhawmik told IANS on the sidelines of the launch of the film's trailer at the Stadel Hotel in the satellite township of Salt Lake. I play a very different role in the film. The film, scheduled for April 26 release, has been produced by Anirban Aditya of Aditya Productions in association with Tripod Entertainment. Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends focuses on female bonding
Movie: Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends
Am not too much into Bengali movies since I always feel that they lack good script and actors and some important factors needed to make for a good storyline but a good review that I read two days ago created this unusual urge and curiosity to watch this new so called HIP Bangla cinema!! I don't know if I would like to criticize it much because that's what I like to do most of the times whenever I see a new movie but this one has a bit of a magic in it. Firstly the actors had a lot of spunk in them, amazing and beautiful Bengali actresses played their parts with so much ease and boldness And boy, did they know how to do burn of the stress.
'Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends': India's first 'chick film'?
Kolkata: In the first 'chick film' in India on the lines of 'Charlie's Angels', 'Maach Misti and More' director Mainak Bhaumik has taken a sneak peek into the world of three present day career-driven young girls, feminine but not coy in his new flick 'Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends'. While lot of film makers here in Bengal and in Hindi as well have been making films, which are sensitive about women-centric issues with female leads, there had been a dearth of a real girlie movie, a flick which explores the psyche and unique domain of women, their lives, friendships, fun and everything,- their hang-outs, which looks at them more from the dispassionate point of view and not as mere pretty faces, the 'Bedroom' director told PTI during the trailer. I have seen how men react and behave at the sight of and in the company of women, who, however, prove to be more level headed and pragmatic. Their psyche is different, There lies a fundamental difference between the two genders and that also gets reflected in my film, Mainak said in a lighter vein.
